Story Sacks

A story sack is a large cloth bag containing a children's book with supporting materials to stimulate reading activities and make shared reading a memorable and enjoyable experience. The sack contains soft toys of the books main characters, props and scenery that brings the book to life. The children in my care enjoy listening to these stories. I have 'Handa's Surprise' (See below)  and 'Monkey Puzzle".

A typical playtime in the conservatory home setting.

We have live caterpillers that we look after and watch them grow into butterflies, we also do lots of crafts and activities and learn  about their life cycle.

The children enjoy using the butterfly and caterpiller stamps to make their own pictures.

Messy Play

The chidren enjoy doing lots of messy play! We use water, sand, shaving foam, jelly, water bubbles and much much more.

The children really enjoy filling and emptying containers with pasta and spaghetti.

Shaving foam is always a big favourite with the children and we hide small creatures in the foam for the children to find.

Water balls are great they are really slippery in your hands.

Water play using funnels, measuring cylinders and lots of sea creatures.

The children enjoy completing a range of jigsaws.

We look at 5 Letters, 3 Colours and 2 Shapes a month. Focusing on these small groups helps the children to retain the information.

The children enjoy using the soft play equipment. They make lots of creative structures from bridges, buses and motorbikes.
